Ugochi Peace Nwosu (PhD in view) is a lawyer and academic with 9 years’ experience in corporate law, Alternative Dispute Resolution and several other spheres of legal practice. After her call to bar, Ugochi gathered 2 years’ experience in corporate and civil litigation before proceeding to obtain an LLM with distinction in International Commercial Law and Dispute Resolution from University of Reading. Ugochi has worked in law firms both locally and internationally. After her LLM Ugochi worked in an arbitration law firm where she gathered experience advising and representing companies in commercial and investment arbitration across different sectors. Ugochi has sat on the board of 3 companies and acted as legal secretary in two NGOs providing advisory services to them. Ugochi is also passionate about gender equality and has ghost written 2 articles and a textbook on this subject. She is currently one of the deputy chairs of the Moot Alumni Association; an NGO of professionals who have a common interest in international trade law and arbitration. Ugochi has written and co-authored a number of articles on Commercial and Investment Arbitration. Ugochi also holds a diploma in Mediation from Resolve Mediation, UK, a diploma in Arbitration from Arbitration Academy, Paris, and another diploma from the Basel Winter Arbitration School, Switzerland. She is a member of several Arbitration networks including Young Institute for Transnational Arbitration, London Very Young Arbitration and Young International Council for Commercial Arbitration where she has been mentored by renowned international arbitrators.
Ugochi is the recipient of several scholarships including Racial Equality for Arbitration Lawyers Scholarship, Karl-Keinz Bockstiegel Foundation Scholarship, amongst others.
Currently Ugochi is running a PhD in University of Reading where she uses socio-legal approaches to understand the phenomenon of law.
