Mbasekei Martin Obono

He is a highly regarded international human rights and international criminal lawyer. He obtained his legal education from the University of Buckingham and the Nigerian law school. He is an expert negotiator who strongly believes that disputes should be nipped in the bud to prevent lengthy litigation.

Obono has delivered lectures on human rights and business law around the world, including being a yearly guest lecturer at a combined MBA class of the Southern University of New Orleans and Louisiana State University. He has experience in strategic litigation in Regional Courts such as the ECOWAS Court of Justice and the African Court on Human and Peoples Rights. He has been involved in settling complex international disputes such as disputes between Twitter Incorporated and the Federal Government of Nigeria. He was involved in the landmark case in favour of women being harassed on the streets of Abuja by the Nigerian Police Force and Abuja Environmental Protection Board. Obono is a Fellow of the Institute of Human Rights, Columbia University New York. He also holds an executive Certificate from Harvard Kennedy School of Government, Massachusetts. He serves on the board of companies and non-profit organizations, including Amnesty International Nigeria.
